Overview
This guide explains how to log into your BlockFi account from the website or mobile app, common problems that prevent login, how to set up and reset two-factor authentication (2FA), and best practices to keep your account secure. Follow the step-by-step instructions below for a smooth sign-in experience.
How to log in (web & mobile)
- Open your browser and go to https://blockfi.com or launch the BlockFi mobile app from your device.
- Click or tap Sign In (top-right on desktop) and enter the email address you used to register.
- Type your password carefully. Passwords are case-sensitive—check Caps Lock before trying.
- If you have 2FA enabled, enter the temporary code from your authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Authy) or SMS when prompted.
- After successful authentication you will be taken to your dashboard. Consider enabling biometric login on mobile for faster future access.
Common login issues & troubleshooting
- Forgot password: Use the Forgot password link on the sign-in page to receive a reset email. Follow the link in the email to create a new password.
- Not receiving reset or verification emails: Check your spam/junk folder and ensure your email provider isn’t blocking messages from BlockFi. Whitelist
@blockfi.com if needed.
- Authenticator codes not working: Confirm your device clock is set to automatic time — authenticator apps rely on accurate time. If necessary, re-sync the app or reconfigure 2FA (see next section).
- Account locked after multiple attempts: Wait the lockout period or contact support for manual help if the site indicates your account is temporarily locked.
Tip: Use a password manager to store complex passwords and paste them to avoid typing errors.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
2FA adds a second verification step to protect your account. The recommended method is an authenticator app rather than SMS, for stronger security.
- Go to Security settings in your account dashboard.
- Choose Enable 2FA and scan the QR code with your authenticator app.
- Save the backup/recovery codes in a secure location—these will be required if you lose access to your authenticator app.
If you lose your 2FA device, use your saved recovery codes to regain access, or contact BlockFi support and be prepared to verify ownership with identity documents.
Security best practices
- Enable 2FA and keep backup codes offline.
- Use a unique, strong password (12+ characters with letters, numbers, symbols).
- Keep your email account highly secured — it’s often the recovery channel.
- Never share one-time codes or passwords. BlockFi will not ask for your password or full 2FA codes over email or chat.
